Enabling and using Spam Trap addresses in MDaemon

MDaemon has a feature called Spam Honeypots which are addresses you use to collect spam. Any messages sent to these email addresses will be learned as spam.  These messages are used to feed the bayesian learning process and keep your spam filtering accurate and up to date.

To add a spam honeypot address, from the MDaemon console:

  1. Click Security
  2. Click Spam Filter...
  3. Select Spam Honeypots on the left.
  4. Check the Enable spam honeypots box
  5. Add each email address. Note that they should not be real MDaemon email accounts - just choose an address that doesn't exist yet.
  6. Click OK

If desired, enable 'Submit sending IPs to the Dynamic Screening System' so that the IPs sending to your spam traps will also be temporarily blocked.
