MDaemon and WinGate on the same machine with a dedicated connection to the Internet

MDaemon and WinGate can run on the same machine with little conflict. Below are the steps necessary to configure them both on the same computer with a dedicated internet connection.

  • Login to Gatekeeper (in WinGate) with Administrative rights.
  • Under the Services tab.
  • Right click the POP3 proxy server icon.
  • Click the Delete option.
  • Right click the SMTP or TCP Mapping service icon. Note: If you do not have an SMTP or TCP Mapping service on port 25, skip to step 7.
  • Click the Delete option.
  • Click the Save changes icon.

Open the main MDaemon window by double clicking on the white envelope icon in the system tray.

  1. Click Setup.
  2. Click Primary Domain.
  3. Click the Delivery tab.
    You have three options for sending your messages to the Internet.

    Always send all outbound email directly to the recipient's mail server.

    Always send every outbound email to the server specified below.

    Try direct delivery but send problem emails to the server specified below.

  4. If you choose one of the last two options here, in the Mail Server field, enter the name of your ISP's SMTP server.
  5. Click the Ports tab and click the Return Port Settings to Defaults button.
  6. Click the DNS tab, in the Primary DNS server IP field; enter the IP address of your ISP's. DNS server on port 53. The rest of the settings in the DNS tab can be left as default.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Setup.
  10. Click Domain POP.
  11. Click the Account tab.
  12. Check the Enable Domain POP Mail Collection Engine check box.
  13. In the POP Server field, enter your ISP's POP3 server name or IP address.
  14. In the User Name field, enter your POP3 user name.
  15. In the Password field, enter the POP3 account password.
  16. Click Apply.
  17. Click OK.
  18. Click Account.
  19. Click New and create all your accounts one at a time.
