MDaemon 11.x: Message Certification (VBR) in MDaemon

MDaemon 9.6 was the first commercial implementation of VBR ('Vouch by Reference'), an extension to Internet mail that is being created by the Domain Assurance Council which allows certification of messages by trusted providers. VBR involves adding an extra header to the outbound message which indicates that your domain fits the criteria for 'good email practices.'

Until there are more reputation service providers providing this service, Alt-N Technologies will step into this role and provide certification services for the MDaemon community. To submit a request to have your domain's messages certified by Alt-N please visit http://www.altn.com/email-certification/signup/. Once you have signed up, you will need to configure MDaemon to use Alt-N Technologies as a certification provider.

  1. Select the Security menu.
  2. Select Security Settings...
  3. Select VBR Certification on the left.
  4. Enable Enable certification of inbound messages.
  5. Enter 'vbr.emailcertification.org' for Host name(s) of certification services that I trust.
  6. Enable Insert certification data into outbound messages.
  7. Click Configure a domain for message certification and enter the domain and certification provider for each domain you'd like MDaemon to insert the header for. Make sure that each domain has been signed up at the above URL. If you signed up at Alt-N the provider will be vbr.emailcertification.org.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click OK.
