Looking for wireless access to email, calendar, contacts, or tasks using your mobile device? MDaemon Email Server works with many popular mobile devices, so that regardless of platform you will have access to your important information wherever you are.
ActiveSync for MDaemon installs along with MDaemon but it is a separately licensed product that will run as a trial for 30 days. The trial begins when you install MDaemon and enable ActiveSync for the first time.
MDaemon Email Server includes a single interface to easily manage the growing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environments of SMB /SMEs. Smartphones and tablets that run Android, iOS, Windows and BlackBerry can be managed from a single user interface within MDaemon's console or via MDaemon Remote Administration. Devices can be managed via Microsoft ActiveSync® or MDaemon's integrated BES. With either, IT policies can be configured to require a password, lock the device after a period of inactivity, or wipe lost or stolen devices, or you can create custom policies to fit your environment.
The MDaemon Webmail "Mobile" theme (optimized for smaller screens) allows MDaemon users to access their email, calendar, contacts, tasks and notes on their smartphone or tablet.
All mobile device management features, including ActiveSync, SyncML, BIS and BES, can be configured from within the Mobile Device Management menu in MDaemon Remote Administration.
MDaemon Email Server* includes support for the latest version of Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) (2.5, 12.1, 14.0, and 14.1 Protocols), which is a separately licensed ActiveSync (AirSync) server. ActiveSync provides native synchronization of a user's default and shared email, calendar, contacts, and tasks data between the MDaemon Email Server, MDaemon Webmail or Outlook (using the Outlook Connector plug-in) account and an ActiveSync capable device. Other features include: Server-Side Mail Searching, Customizable Device IT Policies, Remote Wipe, Autodiscovery, Multiple Folder Synchronization, Global Address Lookup, SSL Encrypted Transmissions, Device Whitelists and Blacklists, Forgetting Inactive Devices, and Device Protocol Restrictions.
ActiveSync provides the highest level of integration for the latest mobile devices, including iPhone / iPad, BlackBerry 10, Android, and Windows Mobile / Windows Phone. It is also available on most other mobile platforms. ActiveSync also minimizes the amount of data that is sent over the mobile network.
Along with native synchronization of a user's default and shared email, calendar, contacts, and tasks data, ActiveSync for MDaemon also includes the following features:
Many people commonly have more than one mobile device. With ActiveSync for MDaemon, any user can have multiple devices of any make/model on a single account, making it easy to sync all your MDaemon email, calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes (if device supports each feature). The administrator can also limit the number of devices each user can have on their account.
ActiveSync for MDaemon uses Push email technology that provides an always-on capability, in which new email is actively transferred (pushed) to the device after it is received by the MDaemon Email Server.
Enhance your mobile device security through ActiveSync policies. You can manage pre-defined policies and create your own policies from the Mobile Device Management screen. Policies can be created from many options*, including:
*Note: Not all ActiveSync devices recognize or apply policy consistently. Some may ignore policy altogether and others may require a device reboot before changes take effect (defeating the purpose of many of the policy elements). Also, no policy is applied until the next time the device connects on its own to the ActiveSync server.
Supported in MDaemon Pro with ActiveSync. While MDaemon's ActiveSync implementation supports Email, Events, Contacts, Tasks and Notes, not all device clients are capable of handling this data. Public and Shared folder access can be controlled at the user, domain and server levels.
The ActiveSync Sessions tab in MDaemon's main interface displays activity for all devices or mail clients that are currently connected to MDaemon via ActiveSync, including session ID, connecting IP, domain, account, and device type.
ActiveSync Options can be configured for optimal performance for your specific environment. When troubleshooting ActiveSync issues, the log level can be set to "Debug logging" so that more detailed information is written to the ActiveSync log.
If a device is lost or stolen, the MDaemon administrator can use the Wipe command to erase all data on the device and restore the device to its factory default state.
Soft Wipe (via ActiveSync) removes data for the ActiveSync account versus restoring the device to default condition if a device is lost or stolen. This action can be taken from within the MDaemon console or MDaemon's web-based remote administration application (MDaemon Remote Administration).
Autodiscover (or Auto Detect) Service: A user can easily create an account on their mobile device by entering their email and password. They do not need to know their server name to setup the email service. The feature facilitates the discovery of core account configuration information by using the user's SMTP address as the primary input, which significantly simplifies the configuration of mobile devices.
ActiveSync bundles all sync requests together instead of doing a sync for each folder separately, so battery life and data won't be consumed constantly and there's far lower message delivery latency.
Global Address List (GAL), also known as Global Address Book, contains contact info and other resources associated with a contact to enable your MDaemon users to look up your other MDaemon users' contact info.
Short for Secure Sockets Layer, it's used for transmitting private data securly. SSL uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data − a public key known to everyone and a private or secret key known only to the recipient of the message. ActiveSync for MDaemon uses SSL encrypted transmissions to send all of its data between MDaemon Email Server and your mobile devices.
ActiveSync supports a device ID, device type, and device OS whitelist and blacklist. You can whitelist or blacklist devices based on their ID, type, and OS values.
The ActiveSync Options screen will let you specify the number of days of inactivity after which MDaemon will forget about a particular device. This setting defaults to 31 days. When MDaemon forgets a device, it means that any previous configuration and/or access history is discarded. The next time the device connects it will be forced to re-provision if a policy is in place at the domain level, perform an initial folder sync, and re-sync all subscribed folders. This helps to keep your installation clean from having a lot of old/retired/ unused devices. As part of the daily cleanup event, MDaemon will check all devices for inactivity.
The Restrictions screen lets you specify User Agent and Device Type values and restrict devices matching those values to one or more specific versions of ActiveSync (choose from 2.5, 12.1, 14.0, and 14.1 Protocols). The ActiveSync server will communicate with matching devices using only the selected protocol version(s).
Buy ActiveSync for MDaemon
NOTE: If you are upgrading MDaemon from an earlier version and have previously purchased an ActiveSync license, your current key will work for MDaemon 13.5. Beginning with MDaemon 14, the ActiveSync license will need to be renewed.
MDaemon Email Server provides IMAP support for mobility, message folder sharing, and even email account sharing by multiple users, plus the centralized storage, filtering, and manipulation of messages in private, shared, and public folders on the email server. The IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) allows the users to work with their messages in both online and offline modes. The IMAP-capable device retrieves the messages' headers from MDaemon and stores a local copy. All the messages are left on MDaemon Email Server until they are deleted by the user.
POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) allows users to retrieve e-mail messages, with any device, from the MDaemon Email Server. Once the email messages are downloaded from MDaemon they can be modified, read and manipulated offline.
MDaemon includes a built-in SyncML server. SyncML allows you to synchronize your contacts, tasks, and calendar events with any device that supports SyncML.
