In This Issue:
Alt-N Technologies is pleased to announce the formal release of the MDaemon Email Appliance. The Windows-based, email appliance is available in both rack and tower form factors and has three base configuration models to meet various businesses requirements.
"The decision to offer an email appliance was based upon feedback from customers who want a simple, plug-and-play email server installation experience," said Arvel Hathcock, CEO of Alt-N Technologies. "Customers who want the reliable and secure performance of our MDaemon and SecurityPlus software can now have it preconfigured on a dedicated server and shipped directly to their office. This new combination of hardware and software in a single solution is providing them with exactly what they need."
And customers agree!
"Managing the E-911 service for one of the largest metropolitan areas in Alabama means we can't afford downtime with an unreliable email system," said Jamey Wright, Morgan County Systems Analyst. "We reviewed a number of systems that offered email on an appliance form factor, but selected the MDaemon Email Appliance for its reliability, features, and ease of use. It offers an affordable, plug-and-play solution that enables me to devote more of my time and resources to making our service more efficient in areas where every second counts."
We have added a new section under the Products tab of the altn.com web site that provides an overview and detailed specifications on the new MDaemon Email Appliance. This product is initially available to U.S. customers only. For additional information, visit www.altn.com/Products/MessagingSolutions/MDaemonEmailAppliance/.

Spam is not a problem
While PDF spam was running rampant in many email inboxes, Matthew Grim, founder and CEO of Volmar Technologies, was unaware of how widespread the problem had become. Did You Know?
In this section, we provide some helpful hints to enhance your experience using Alt-N Technologies' products.
Simplify User Authorizations:
RelayFax users running the MDaemon Email Server for Windows can easily authorize users of both products. Within RelayFax, simply choose Accounts ? Account Manager… and there is an 'Import MD' button on the Account Settings dialogue window. This also gives you the option to set each account's RelayFax password to their MDaemon password. The import wizard will create the RelayFax accounts from your current MDaemon installation. Please note that this works best when your RelayFax and MDaemon license sizes match.
Enhancing MDaemon Performance:
Regular defragmentation of the MDaemon server's hard disk is recommended for maximum performance. Server performance can be further improved by reducing the amount of logging MDaemon is performing, along with moving the logs and the "user/public/queues" folders to a physically separate disk. Lowering read and write volumes to a disk can significantly improve performance, as an overworked hard drive can become a performance bottle neck.
