Using Security Certificates Issued by a Third-party CA with MDaemon is simple!
If you have purchased or otherwise generated a certificate from some source other than MDaemon, you can still use that certificate by using the Microsoft Management Console to import it into the certificate store that MDaemon uses. Simply follow these instructions:
- On your Windows toolbar, click Start → Run…, and then type "mmc /a" into the "Open:" text box.
- Click OK.
- In the Microsoft Management Console, click Console → Add/Remove Snap-in… (or press Ctrl+M on your keyboard).
- On the Standalone tab, click Add….
- Click Certificates, and then click Add.
- Choose Computer account, and then click Next.
- Choose Local computer, and then click Finish.
- Click Close, and click OK.
- Under "Certificates (Local Computer)", click the "Certificates" sub-folder under the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" folder if the certificate that you are importing is self-signed. If it is not self-signed then click the "Personal" folder.
- Click Action → All Tasks → Import… and click Next.
- Enter the file path to the certificate that you wish to import (using the Browse button if necessary), and click Next.
- Click Next, and click Finish.
Note: MDaemon will only display certificates that have private keys using the Personal Information Exchange format (PKCS #12). If your imported certificate does not appear in the list then you may need to import a *.PEM file, which contains both a certificate key and private key. Importing this file using the same process outlined above will convert it to the PKCS #12 format.
RelayFax Contact Manager
RelayFax and the RelayFax SMTP Client are each equipped with a complete fax contact and address book management system. It can be used to manage all of your contacts, and supports storing a large amount of information for each one. You can add up to 50 fields for each contact, assign contacts to groups, add notes for them, sort by any field, launch your web browser, phone dialer, or email program, and a host of other features. For more information regarding the various features and options available within the Contact Manager, see its online Help system.
Because any number of the Contact Manager’s data files can be managed at once, and because they can be shared and viewed simultaneously by multiple users, the Contact Manager can be used effectively as both a global and personal address book for the users on your local network. Users can simply click File → Open... within their Contact Manager and then navigate to the *.adx file on the network that contains the shared address book entries. That file will then be incorporated into their local Contact Manager. For remote users, the *.adx files can easily be emailed to their remote location so that they can have access to the shared contacts as well. For more information, see the RelayFax help file or visit our Knowledge Base online at
www.altn.com/Support/KnowledgeBase/.
SecurityGateway can automatically verify users for any SMTP server
SMTP Verification (call forward) is similar to the anti-spam technique Callback Verification. With SMTP Verification (call forward), SecurityGateway will attempt to verify a user via the SMTP protocol. When a message comes in for an unknown user, SecurityGateway will create an SMTP session to the defined domain mail servers SecurityGateway is protecting. If a domain mail server replies that the recipient is OK, SecurityGateway will add the user to its user database and accept the inbound message for processing.
For unknown local senders who attempt to authenticate, SecurityGateway will pass the user's credentials to the SMTP Verification source for authentication. If authentication is successful then the message will be accepted for delivery by SecurityGateway and an account for the user will be created. For accounts that already exist, SecurityGateway will first check the user's login credentials against the local user database. If no match is found there then the SMTP Verification source will be checked.
