Do You have an Instant Messaging Culture?
Today, many businesses rely on third-party instant messaging (IM) services such as AIM, Google Talk, and Windows Live Messenger to send brief communications quickly between employees. Yet, many employees and email administrators are now wasting time from spam exposure generated through these conduits. In addition, these popular instant messaging clients also raise security concerns of not only spam, but uncontrolled exposure of your company's proprietary information. For MDaemon Email Server Pro edition customers, the ComAgent instant messaging application is included to enable employee chat messaging while addressing security concerns.
ComAgent's messages are passed directly on the network through the MDaemon Mail Server — not via peer-to-peer over the Internet like third-party IM clients. Each message is logged in a central location and is accessible to the MDaemon/WorldClient administrator for security policy enforcement. ComAgent's IM service allows secure communication between employees without the threat of third-party spam exposure while helping maintain your company's security compliance policies.
ComAgent also provides address book synchronization, and an email monitoring tray applet that provides one-click access to WorldClient's (MDaemon's web mail client) email features. If you are not currently taking advantage of this powerful instant messaging tool, please review the step-by-step instructions for getting started with ComAgent. |

Making Sure Your Outbound Fax is Not Being Delayed
You can adjust the RelayFax.ini file to prevent new outbound faxes from being delayed when there are pending faxes in the Active queue. To configure RelayFax so it will continue to check for new outbound faxes, simply follow these steps:
1. Shut down RelayFax
2. Navigate to the RelayFax\App directory
3. Open the RelayFax.ini file with Notepad
4. Locate the following entry:
[FaxServer]
MaxPendingFaxCount=XX

Move MDaemon's Mailboxes to a Different Drive
There may be certain situations where it would be beneficial to move all of MDaemon's mailboxes to a different physical drive, such as when drive space is limited. You can use the "DirReorg" tool to move your mailboxes to a new drive. For detailed information view the step-by-step instructions in our knowledge base.

Are You Missing Contacts in WorldClient?
If you normally use Outlook Connector and you find that your contacts are suddenly missing from MDaemon's WorldClient webmail, it is likely that you have a corrupt AddrBook.mrk file. When this happens, in most cases you can follow these steps to restore your contacts in WorldClient.
• Ensure there is an .msg file for each contact under the user's Contacts.IMAP folder on the
MDaemon server
• Note that these .msg files will only show for Outlook Connector users
• This folder is located under MDaemon\Users\YourDomain\Username\Contacts.IMAP
• If there is a corresponding.msg file for each contact, then make sure the affected user is
not logged into World Client
• Navigate to MDaemon\Users\YourDomain.com\UserName\WC (where YourDomain.com is the domain
name and UserName is the name of the affected user)
• Re-name the AddrBook.mrk file
• Have the user log back into World Client and check to see if the contacts list shows up
• A new AddrBook.mrk file should be created based on the entries in the user's
Contacts.IMAP folder

Move Outlook Connector Calendar Entries from One User to Another
You can move or copy calendar entries from one user to another on the MDaemon server itself. To do this:
• Navigate to MDaemon\Users\yourdomain.com\acccount\Calendar.IMAP (for the account whose
calendar entries you wish to move or copy)
• Copy all files ending in .msg
• Navigate to the Calendar.IMAP folder of the person to whom you wish to transfer these calendar
entries and paste or move the above .msg files to this directory
• If there are already .msg files in this location, make sure their file names are different from
the ones you are moving into this folder
• If any of the file names are the same, you will need to change the file names of the items
you are moving into this folder
• Have the new user log into Outlook and the calendar entries will appear on the calendar

Here are a few tips to improve MDaemon's performance:
• Configure your third-party antivirus software to omit scanning of the MDaemon directory. Third-party
antivirus software can sometimes interfere with MDaemon's performance
• Defragment the hard drive on the MDaemon server
• Run Disk Cleanup regularly
For additional MDaemon performance tips, see the knowledge base articles 1727, 2088, and 1840. |
